  • It is the intention of the left to break the economic back of America. If that cap and trade program is approved this will destroy our county.

  • Voter smarter than a 5th grader. California voters shot down both clean-energy propositions on the ballot. Proposition 7 would have required utilities to generate 40% of their power from renewable energy by 2020 and 50% by 2025. It lost 65% to 35%. Proposition 10 would have created $5 billion in general obligation bonds to help consumers and others purchase certain high-fuel-economy or alternative-fuel vehicles, and to fund research into alternative fuel technology. It failed 60% to 40%.

  • The world has been getting cooler for the past 10 years, exposing gorebull warming for what it is. GW the world biggest scam. There is no scientific proof of GW. If there was I sure the $500,000 prize for such proof would have been collected from http://ultimateglobalwarmingchallenge.com/

  • I agree with you. But I cannot help noticing that few pages are devoted to details on the new technologies that would bring about the necessary changes. We did much better introducing new communications technologies. Time for more scientific depth on this subject.

  • Thank you for taking a firm stand on . But are you overlooking a simple but powerful solution. The UN Food and Agriculture Organization concluded that meat consumption accounts for more greenhouse gas emissions than all the cars, planes and trucks combined. By adopting a plant-based diet, we can immediately reduce 18% of all greenhouse gas emissions. Adopting a vegetarian diet is the quickest and most efficient way to curb climate change. Be Veg. Go green. Save the planet

  • In a 2006 report, the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization concluded that raising animals for food generates 18% of the planet’s greenhouse-gas emissions, more than all the cars, trucks, ships, and planes in the world combined. Marianne Thieme, Member of Dutch Parliament, stated, “If all British people ate a meat free diet for 6 days a week, this would create greater carbon savings than removing all the cars off the UK roads, 29 million cars”. • Carbon trading schemes are, obviously, not about carbon. They are about transferring wealth from the industrialized west to the third world. Why would it matter that Indonesia's government is corrupt? Their people are still poor and need U. S. bucks.

  • carbon taxes are not more effective, because: 1. cap and trade has a hard cap, which makes it accountable. 2. tax rates are subject to political whims and favoritism, while cap and trade can be indexed to a long-term goal and not fudged. 3. Cap and trade is responsive to market volatility, for which there is much in energy markets, while tax rates respond only as fast as Congress can get around to it.
