  • "More important, Palestinians have demonstrated that they will violently resist an Israeli occupation." That statement is absurd. The degree of brutality and resistance of a nation's enemy have no bearing on whether the nation must withdraw its troop. The worthiness of the cause and the accomplishment of goals are the correct measure.

  • Israel is the biggest, baddest army on the block. If Israel is worried about HAMAS, it should deal with HAMAS, not bomb every civilian in site. If it is scared of HAMAS, then it should negotiate with HAMAS. How can an army so big and strong act so cowardly? This is David and Goliath, and Israel is scared because, as the regional power, it knows it is in the wrong.

  • The blockade is the excuse Hamas is using but it is baseless since Egypt has a blockade too and Hamas is not launching rockets into Egypt. Israel is not looking for a renewed bilateral ceasefire with Hamas (what would be the purpose since Hamas will just re-arm launch rockets into Israel again), but rather a multilateral arrangement that will be imposed on Hamas or that Hamas accepts willingly.

  • I am unclear why they are in dispute and whatever conflict they disagree on could surely be resolved in a more reasonable way then killing their own citizens. I do understand that their economical times are at a low. To completly attempt to abolish a populated land is certainly stupid and ignorant for there would only be more conflict to come. Governments in areas such as these are always corrupted, from my understanding, i feel that if their governments were to improve for the better good than perhaps they would not have to worry about a rocket with their name on it or the deaths of their citizens on their hands.

  • Approximately 85% of the Arab Gaza population voted for and actively support Hamas. They aren't quite the innocent bystanders that much of the media portrays them as being. Most of the unfortunate civilian casualties in Gaza are the direct result of Hamas' cynical use of the civilian population as human shields and/or the Gaza civilian population's willing contribution to the Hamas cause. Also, the land was NOT controlled by the Palestinian Arabs before Israel was created in 1948. The land was under the control of the Ottoman Turks from the 16th century until the British drove them out in WW1.

  • Really tough to feel sorry for the Palestinians when we still have images of them celebrating in the streets when they got word of the 9/11 attackso America. Support and encourage terrorism, you reap the rewards.

  • Let the terrorist leaders explain if they can why mortars were placed on the grounds of this school-oh I know-to use innocent civilians again as human shields

  • No cease fire until Hamas has ceased to exist. If the choice is between the destruction of Israel, like Hamas is advocating, or the elimination of Hamas and its followers, I chose Israel. You want peace, learn to live in peace, otherwise you will be wipped off the face of the earth!!!!!

  • When the people elect a terrorist government to represent them and that government has, as part of its constitution, the destruction of another country, then the people will suffer the consequences. They have no-one to blame but themselves. Elect a militant to represent you and expect a response. Instituting a truce now will only prolong this. Terrorism must be stamped out and a truce will only make those "liberals" feel better for a short time.

  • Have we not paused to realize that Israel has been disregaurding the UN for some time now? However until the creation of Israel in 1948 the palestinians controled the area. The western world took the landan gave it to the Israelis. The land was given to them twice, once by the UN and once by God. both parties have a legitimate claim to the area
