the way to ensure "parental notification" by a young woman who needs an abortion is for the parents to build a good relationship with their daughter so that she is willing to tell them. forcing it doesn't work - read the article, where it compares minnesota and wisconsin. the rights in question are the rights of the daughter. no one wants more abortions, but life as an unwanted child is HARD and often filled with abuse, poverty and fear. (don't ask me how I know this!)

Is the sanctity of "abortion rights" so unassailable by the Times and its pro-choice uber alles ilk that a young girls desire undergo a major medical procedure with potential long term physical and emotional consequences trumps a parents desire to be part of that decision? What a load of bull. Prop 4 isn't an attempt to undermine Roe v Wade in the least; it's about providing PARENTS of young girls, the authority being a parent rightfully obligates. The supposed threat to abortion rights FOR ADULTS is a smokescreen. As a parent of a young daughter, I enthusiastically support Prop 4.
