The Kennedy spark
1.
!Viva JFK!
!Viva Tim Rutten!
2. Not to besmirch the memory of Bobby Kennedy or Ted Sorenson's ability with words, but "'My favorite poet was Aeschylus [who] ]wrote: '... against our will, comes wisdom through the awful grace of God'"' -- egads! I seriously doubt that Aeschylus knew about Him. Zeus would have been his main god. Still it's a nice thought to fob on unsuspecting and ignorant Christians, ain't it?
3. Pleasssse....I was around when John Kennedy was and believe me Obama and his crass wife are not the Kennedys. Ted's and old fool and on one really cares who he endorses. The last time i looked this was a free country....popular vote...and all that...of course GW set new ground in that regard...and now Time Magazine, Tim Rutten et all are declaring Obama the "winner." NO need for an election in November...W4E HAVE THE PRESS TO TELL US WHO THE WINNER IS....RIGHT...WRONG What you have created is the "big turn off" we are sick of having the press in America dictate who will be our next president.....NOT OBAMA
4. As much as I hate Tim Rutten's bigotry against Muslims and Islam, this is a well-written article.
5. The problem Obama may have is the same as that which Clinton would face --a wdespread under-educated population for whom the very mention of Aeschylus or Sophocles is threatening. These are the same people who, because of being undereducated, think America is the paragon of nations, entitled to its arroance. Ignorance is the real issue, not sex or race or eloquence.
6. I'm Disgusted that you people voted for Obama, he might win the Democratic Nominee but he will not win the Presidency mark my word McCain will, our entire family will vote for neither one. The Media is a low down to the Clintons we blame you alway's putting her down and making Obama look as if he was GOD, don't cry later whern were in a worse situation thank we are now just remember WE TOLD YOU SO!!!You will regret it the same way your regreting what BUSH has done to America.
7. Thank you for this article. As a country, we need to be on a higher plain. We need leaders who will take us there.
8. It is 2008, not 1960. The world is different. We don't need idealists, we need pragmatists. Obama is a doctrinare liberal who has refused to join Semate colleagues in inraparty unity on issues such as judges. He is not JFK, but then JFK started the Vietnam War.
9. Yes, Obama is inspiring me, too. I had given up on civilisation until he came. I find USA is at the cross roads. We can either continue on the path of self distruction or turn to more of the golden days/years. Obama has the opportunity to inspire the whole planet; he can make the world a new frontier for all of us. Viva OBAMA.
10. What is ironic about the situation Obama finds himself in is that, as a black man, many uneducated whites find it hard to accept his intelligence and his oratorical skills. In private they probably call him "upitty." What is remarkable about him is that as Rutten points out, "an instinctual refusal to talk down to his audience." Good for him. As Hillary Clinton tossed back shots and pandered endlessly to her audiences, the contrast couldn't be any greater. Barack Obama at his core is intelligent, thoughtful, and honest. Hillary's intelligence, thoughtfulness and honesty are now in doubt because of the way she has campaigned.
