Hello --Illegals don't just toil in the sun and pick crops - that's a crock of BS. They steal good paying blue collar jobs all over the City and County of Los Angeles where have you Times idiots been? Don't you see all the illegals crawling all over the city - are you blind and stupid?

In regards to the post that says American citizens would not toil in the fields and pick our crops I say a BIG BS to that. How does Russia, Europe, Japan and all of the other advanced industrialized nations do it? They don't have an illegal Mexican labor pool! If we didn't have illegal aliens to pick our crops we most certainly would have developed far more advanced farm machinery by now to make up for it. I also would be willing to bet that Field work would have remained a much more respectable job like it still is in the rest of the world...if illegals hadn't given it such a bad immage and driven the wages down into the cellar.

Welcome to the Amnesty Society, to Hades with personal responsibility. We give amnesty to the speculators: Wall Street, the banks, the mortgage companies, and the home buyers who gambled that housing prices would continue to rise. The list goes on. The illegal immigrants want amnesty even though they crossed a sovereign border. Abortion is even a form of amnesty. What is the message to the people who did the right things? That the excuse for the infraction is more important than the infraction. Statements like women rights or seeking a better life or Free Trade" are mere platitudes that often excuse irresponsible acts.

"..We must not sanction the curtailmentof women's right to control their bodies and their futures.'
The unborn child is not the womans body body. The unborn baby has seperate DNA and the medical reason many women have morning sickness is the mother's body is attempting to reject this "foreign object" with a seperate heart, brain, hands, etc. I admire liberals desire to use science and critical thought in many of the conservative-liberal debates. However, with regards to abortion debate, liberal minded people tend to forget how to apply critical, factual based analysis to the honest discussion.

The questions regarding "pro-choice" vs. "pro-life" (whatever that is) simply do not measure up to a "deal-breaker" for the future of the USA as a democratic Republic. Illegal Aliens in our midst and the eventual decisions regarding their deportation status IS a "deal-breaker" for the survival of the USA. I'm sick of "press one for English".

You accuse Sen. McCain of inconsistency regarding to his positions on abortion and stem cell research. The problem is that you do not distinguish for your readers between adult stem cell research and embryonic stem cell research. When does human life begin? The editorial in California Medicine of September, 1970, provided the answer to that question: "the scientific fact, which everyone really knows, (is) that human life begins at conception..."

I have a tough question that I struggle with.
1. When do you believe life begins?
2. Lets say at birth and not conception, let me then take an extreme instance of a person giving a pill to a pregnant woman in her third trimester (who is deeply desirous of having this baby) that makes her abort but without injury to herself, should this person be tried? should he be tried for murder?
3. If yes (i.e. if we believe he is guilty), is that not inconsistent with the view that life begins at birth. If not, are we comfortable with letting such person go (or treat him on par with a prankster who gives me an indigestion pill)?

"Both candidates, regrettably, oppose gay marriage..."
Not true! As Biden was being rushed to finish his comments, in the VP debates, he said he and Obama feel marriage should be left to individual religions! No one in the media has picked up on that.

Go Obama!

Resolve immigration before any reforms. The Mexican government recently acknowledged that more Mexicans are coming. The current annual emigration is 580,000, a 12 percent increase from last year, 93 percent of Mexicans in the United States came after the 1970s. There are about 108 million people in Mexico and 40 million in Central America, the vast majority, poor. We cannot be both a lifeboat and reform our systems. Energy, education and health reform cannot happen until we curtail the strain of illegals on our limited resources. We cannot constantly build new schools, open new emergency rooms or utilize more energy for illegals.
