How Would Same-Sex Marriage Affect Society?
The experience of the few European countries that already have legalized same-sex marriage suggests that any dilution of the traditional definition of marriage will further erode the already weakened stability of marriages and family generally. Adopting same-sex marriage compromises the traditional concept of marriage, with harmful consequences for society.

For those planning to vote yes on 8, do you realize that Massachusetts has the LOWEST DIVORCE RATE in the country? Don't vote your fears, Good luck California, NO ON 8

People should NOT vote on prop 8. It is just another way in which the Religious Right is trying to influence the Government. Californians have always been very open minded people. Prop 8 is a direct violation of peoples rights. No one has the right to deny you the right to being married just because you sexual orientation is different. Voting yes on 8 is a complete act of biggotry and ignorance.

To you people who are voting Yes on proposition 8 I ask you one question, and one question only: What would Jesus do?
This proposition, no matter how you attempt to obfuscate the issue, is about perpetuating hate for a religious agenda. I think that's why Jesus cast the pharisees out of the Temple but hey, what do I know?

This debate is predicated on 'banning' something that is questionable to begin with, not to mention instituted by a judge in defiance of popular vote. Regardless it really does not matter to me if homosexuals want to believe they are married, not going to cause me to lose any sleep. My 3 and 5 year olds already know that men marry women and vice versa, create a home and then have children (if they desire) in that order. My job is done. So do your thing homosexuals - have your homosexual charade marriages and party on - means nothing to me besides an occasional laugh.

Yep, it's all the religious communities fault. It's because we are intollerant. Oh wait, that's right, without the religious community there wouldn't even be marriage, would there? The tax status and any other legal statuses (which are already granted to domestic partners, Family Code ยง 297.5) are matters of law, the title of being "Married" is not. Marriage is defined as a bond of matrimony between a man and a woman, as defined, in our common societal use in the US, by traditions set down in the christian faith. Or in short it's "don't tread your religion on me while I tread on your religious tenets".

Steve, your right that children do better with both parents in the home however, you're wrong that they have to be biological parents. More importantly, parents need to be loving and caring, and provide a safe and secure home. Where is the research that says "non-traditional" homes (e.g., those without biological parents) are less healthy? Does that mean adoptive parents aren't healthy parents? Grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. have unhealthy homes and shouldn't raise others' children? That doesn't make sense because it's absolutely not true.

Zippy - so we "encourage" divorce because we allow it?
