1.
Special Order 40 was designed to allow undocumented victims and witnesses to talk to the police without fear of the police. LAPD has never prevented gang violence, Black-on-Black or any other variety; what prevents themis not SO40 but the "NHI" attitude (No Human Involved) exposed by the Christopher Commission. The Black Riders, trying to end internecine violence by Black gangs, and build Black-Brown unity are harassed by LAPD and face a frame-up conspiracy charge concocted by an LAPD undercover cop. Why hasn't the LATimes even reported on the conspiracy trial proceedings now underway?
2. I support Special Order 40. Immigration needs to be looked at from its roots. Most Latinos are here to get away from oppressive governments funded by US in Latin America, also because of the devastations that US companies cause in those countries. Get rid of NAFTA and get the US out of Latin America and I guarantee that things will change. About the people who are here already with families (I'm not talking about "criminals") you have to understand that their life is here now and they want to live in peace. just like Europeans came here to escape oppressive governments.
3. Walter Moore wants "to deport gang members before they commit murder or other crimes, rather than waiting until afterward." But that won't work when the murder is committed by a US citizen. So maybe we should start arresting and jailing all criminals BEFORE they commit their crimes, not after. OK, so it's a little difficult to tell who is going to commit a crime if they haven't done it yet. But we can guess based on their appearance, right? THEN we'll really be safe. And of course nobody should object to this, unless they happen to look like a criminal.
4. Empower the police. Illegals need to go home, put them all on the bus with the Mayor. LA TIMES STINKS.... Shame on you.
5. Time are a changing. So then why isn't our consititution or LAPD rules changed to better fit today's life, not 1900 to 1980 life. What's so compicated about this. Just have it to were if your arested then it is required that cops ask for all information about the person. Only if your being arrested. But like Gary said it's not gonna make a difference anyways. Just make being a gang member illegal. I don't think anyone will object to that, unless your a gangmember. Right?
6. Special Order 40 and other initiatives like it are good policy because they encourage all members of the community to come forward with information about criminal activity. I hope that the city of Los Angeles continues to prioritize public safety over angry rhetoric. Don't repeal Special Order 40.
7. Yes! true enogh! an inocent life was lost do to a cold, brutal and senseless gangbanger that happens to have been an illegal inmigrant .So to have a law that demans that police officers going around doing someone else's job like the U.S Immigration is senless. And wether this Special "Racial" Order 40 is enforced or NOT! there will be murders commited by Gangs, wether the members are U.S born or, LEGAL
8. I agree with posting #17 regarding the economy, if this state was be left without the Immigrant labor, if this country is facing recession or "economy downfall" I bet that this country would come to a screeching halt without someone doing the jobs that the so hated immigrants are willing to do, like working under the immense heat on the fields, just so we can have fruits and vegetables on our tables, and the man power that constructuion Corps, get aid from to finiish projects such housing, booming businesses ,etc.
9. The rapists and murders need to be caught and we need everyone's help in controlling these crimes. If a woman is raped and doesn't come forward because she doesn't want to be separated from her U.S. citizen husband and children. We need to protect her and every other woman in the city who could fall victim to him in the future.
10. i am not latino, Smith, but I support the order 40. i don't want to live in a country that thinks it's okay to deport a woman who reports being abused by her American citizen husband, or a father who reports gang activity in his neighborhood, and then is forced to leave his American citizen children behind when he goes back to Honduras or Korea. we live in a highly complex web of mixed-status families right now. until we fix our broken immigration system, i vote no to terrorizing whole communites. thanks anyways.
