I'm a Jew who is diametrically opposed to Anat's views: I think Israeli militarism, intransigence and human rights atrocities are deplorable, and I look to Obama to be less reflexively pro-Likud in his approach to the MidEast. What bothered me about Silverman, however, is the ageist condescension --- the subtext that everyone's grandma is almost by definition hopelessly out-of-touch with reality.

God forbid someone points out that the Palestinians are suffering. Hakim is unable to point to any facts that would indicate Obama wouldn't support Israel 100%.

You're an IDIOT. Plain and simple.

There are both American and Israeli Jews who support Obama. A recent video with 7 prominent Israeli defense figures addresses this:
[Former IDF chief of staff] Lipkin-Shahak says that he welcomes anyone who 'might try to deal with the axis of evil in a different way' than that of the Bush administration.
[Past head of the National Security Council Uzi] Dayan, says that 'the US has to negotiate with Iran because at the end of the day, you have to stop them from getting nuclear capabilities.'

Sad that a gifted writer and thinker(Harvard Law, seminars and scholarly papers) has been stymied by her Israel first mentality. She'd be surprised to know that this American jewish mantra is not the same with jews in other parts of the world. They see Obama as wonderful for Israel.Where is the evil the US perpetrated upon the Iraqi people? Or is that diminished because we are such a force for good in the world? Can she speak out against US terrorism? So how about a McCain Hakim ticket. A jewish person elected to high office in America.. the country that must "lead the world."

Remember this about Palin and her rightwing perverted version of Christianity: the goal for these people is having all of the Jewish people return to Israel so that the End Time will arrive. At that point in time, Jews will be asked to convert to Christianity. If they refuse, they will burn in Hell for eternity along with Christians like me who don't believe in the twisted logic of Sarah Palin and others of her ilk. Vote for Obama.

I agree completely with Anat. If we want to be one-issue voters, who are you to criticize us? There are some people who only vote for candidates who support illegal gay marriages and some who only vote for candidates who support killing the innocent (so-called "pro-choice" candidates). I vote for the candidate I think is most likely to protect Israel. That is my number one priority, and I'm just glad someone had the courage to speak out for our cause. Thank you Anat!

No clear-minded thinking person will vote for McCain next month unless ballots are confusing:
Not one!

I would prefer a leader with the wisdom to both support Israel and sympathize with the suffering of the Palestinians. Thinking that one side or the other is inherently evil and beyond redemption is (a) not useful for making peace, (b) unimaginative, and (c) not really in the Jewish spirit of the High Holy Days.
I guess you prefer Pastor Hagee.
