Israel's friends
Who are Israel's "true friends" and why are they so true? Discuss today's Blowback.
Comments will close after two weeks.
1.
Pathetic that these are our so-called representatives. This entire article is a piece of propoganda that could have been written by the ADL.
But Mr. Davis should be especially ashamed. Don't you have any self-respect, Mr. Davis?
2. To the "Black Democrat": You should know better than this!
3. So the first two comments on the article insist that a. The authors are too partisan to pay attention to (good heavens: that must mean Walt and Mearsheimer are very neutral.....) and b. davis can be dismissed simply by casting a racial slur in his direction: don't engage the argument, by any means, just race bait. This is the face of anti-Zionism: race baiting and the pretence of objectivity. Well done.
4. The professors' logic is faulty. They condemn the $3 billion foreign aid to Israel, mainly for defense against threats of extinction, but are misleadingly silent on the highly relevant $50 billion-plus received since 1975 by Egypt, which faces no such threats. Nor do they relate to the generous aid given to Pakistan and other countries and the fact that most of the aid to Israel is spent on job creating, defense purchases in the USA.
5. Two known openly one-sided advocates of Israel lecturing us on how professors of the realist school of foreign policy are wrong about Israel. Let me take a wild guess and assume Artur Davis and Eric Cantor view W&M not pro-Israel enough?
6. Artur Davis is a willing member of what should be called "The Invisible Plantation," on which House Negroes, faithful to the master (which includes most of the Congressional Black Caucus) are well paid to propagate the master's propaganda. The master, in this instance, is not the voters of his district or the White House but the Israel Lobby whose funds and support Davis openly solicited when he challenged and defeated civil rights leader, Earl Hilliard for re-election to Congress in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2002. So now they trot out Davis to continue the lobby's hatchet job on Prof. Mearsheimer and Walt. America deserves better.
7. God bless these two Congressmen.
8. Thank you Congressmen Artur and Cantor! Finally, a response to "Waltheimer" that is reasoned, measured and strong. It is a wonder what kind of vitriol, prejudice or bias impels these "scholars" to use shoddy research to uphold tenuous claims. They single out Israel as a "lobby" when the Saudis' contribution to American political money life and influence makes pro-Israel groups look like a dead fly on the wall. You both have won a new supporter (and many more after I send this article to my contacts) with this piece. Thank you for your reason, your intellect, and your faith. Sincerely, John Earlinger
9. John J. Mearsheimer and Stephen M. Walt should write about the "Arab Lobby" - are they part of it?
10. Christian Americans Art Davis from Alabama and Eric Cantor from Virgina tell the truth. Just like them all you got to do is read your Bible. God said thet the Nation of Israel is his chosen people That means that Israel has the right to exist anywhere it wants even if people get in the way like Palestinians. God says that the Israelis can have atomic bombs and nobody like Iranian cant do anything atomic. Anybody who don’t like it just don’t like God like they shood. Its God will thats what.
