  • It is so easy to pick easy targets! Selig Harrison did just that with his notoriosuly biased and prejudiced attack on Bangladesh. I am so happy that Mr. Belal has responded with logic, reason and evidence against his lkaughable accusations. Bangladesh has come down hard on extremists, perhaps harder than any country in the world. I encourage Americans to travel to Bangladesh, visit places like Cox's Bazaar, and see for themselves what tremendous strides the country has made in just over a year.

  • Thank you Mr. Belal for your effort to disclose the real situation in Bangladesh what Mr. Harrison intentionally chosen to ignore with his apparent ulterior motive to portray Bangladesh in a negative framework. We wish Bangladesh all the best and wish Mr. Harrison all the good sense to prevail in future.

  • Sheikh Belal has been too kind towards Selig Harrison. Mr Harrison exhibits a total lack of knowledge about the present day Bangladesh or its origin. Harrison is an idiot.

  • Great article.

  • This is a well argued response and reflects the incredibly nuanced nature of counter-terrorism and counter-radicalization efforts in Bangladesh and the region. As Mr. Belal noted, there have been numerous efforts within the country to effect changes. Well informed analysts ARE starting to take note and the refrain of Bangladesh becoming an inevitable Taliban-like state smacks of personal agendas and reads as outdated and recycled material.

  • Bangladesh maybe effectively combating terrorism and that is good news. But the expericne in India is otherwise. The recent spate of bombings seem to be linked to goups based in Bangladesh.Widespread illegal immigrants are part of the network to groups based across the border
