Bush said "so we went on the offense against the terrorists overseas so we never had to face them here at home."
Well, he has killed more Americans than Al Qaeda, and permanently disabled many thousand more.
He has condoned torture and has shown an utter disregard of the rule of law with hundreds of signing statements and the disregard of the Bill of Rights. And he has given us a massive federal deficit and crippled economy.
True, the terrorists Bush denounces have not come back. They haven't had to.
They could not have done more damage than their agent who lives in the white house.

To Pacific-waters: Boot has been Bush's cheerleader for years; with all due respect, your post is way off base.
Actually, Boot's finally waking up to the trainwreck that is the Bush administration (if for the wrong reasons).
(You almost wonder if hell truly *has* frozen over, considering how many conservatives have jumped ship; but it's sure fun to watch!)

Max Boot, duck my shoe.

Brain-dead pinko-journalists would never be happy with Republican President no matter what else - your article is yet another confirmation.
In 2000 Bush was talking about dangers of utilizing US Armed Forces for foreign nation building and starting 2003 he got us involved in the biggest foreign nation building effort ever seen in US history and you still feel his was not active enough.

The sad fact is that Bush & Cheney are War Criminals who will never be held accountable for their unrepentant slaughter or our own soldiers and 100,000 plus Iraqi civilians. That is a sad fact.

Thank you for observing what a growing number of U.S. and world citizens have been noticing for 8 years. Bush's words reflect a disconnect and frequently are the exact opposite of the actions they address(this tendency has often been called "Orwellian"). His recent actions reveal a man who ducks with agility and quietly pushes through anti-environment, pro-oil, and anti-women's right to choose. I'm with those who support impeachment and trying him for treason, but if we have to wait it out (the way we did with O.J.)to see how life boomerangs back, then so be it.

Oh please, if he had attacked iran you would lambaste him for that. I am not a big fan of Bush's but you'll denigrate him no matter what he does. If he supported abortion and gay marriage you'd say he was doing so out of cynical political motives. We'll have a new POTUS soon enough and I doubt you'll like what you've asked for.

I'm sorry, but I'm confused, for 8 years I've heard nothing 'Bush is a warmonger', 'Bush's illegal war', etc., etc., Now I'm no Bush fan - for different reasons than most folks - But now your saying he didnt invade enough? Hmmm...

"a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations?"
That's frightening. Why would somebody who would be so dumb as to advocate war against an entire region of the planet get to have such a job? I know people working down at the local Burger King with more insightful foreign policy proposals. Where's their fellowship?
Long live George W. Bush!
