So, previously undecided centrist and conservative women are suddenly moving from undecided to McCain/Palin column. Is anybody surprised? And I guess lots of blue collar men come to them now too. If McCain was after former Clinton supporters he would have picked older and more centrist woman, but that would be hard sell anyway. He gains lot more by energizing Republican core voters. However, if we put aside social values, Sarah Palin is feminist ideal; All she achieved she did without rich or influential husband or family. Which of top women in Democratic party can match this?

Many African Americans are proud of the Obama candidacy. I was proud of Hillary's candidacy and I am equally as proud of Sarah's candidacy. I do not understand why women have to be ill informed to be proud and vote on that basis. Of course I have looked at the issues. I feel my support for John McCain and Sarah Palin was reached wholeheartedly with no reservations, through soul searching, researching, pride and as a result of the entire election process.

"Voters aren't that stupid". You totally lost me when you confused irrational, or ill-informed, with stupid. No-where in the verbiage you responded to was it stated or even implied voters are stupid - simply mysterious. Katherine seems to have just as much regard for voters as yourself - but a greater understanding of human nature.

The disturbing truth is that YES, American voters are indeed that dumb. The media and politicians alike are aware of this overwhelming lack of thought, and play directly into it. The media reports nonsense because they know we will eat it up and beg for more. The politician knows that to remain as vague as possible, thereby not offending anyone. Our next president will NOT be elected based on specific plans for key issues. He will win because of ethnicity, or gender, or because he promised something that sounded great on the surface, but was truthfully plagued with problems and hidden costs that will never be discussed until it is too late.

It is frightening to see millions of Americans so easily hypnotized by this Jerry Springer like joke of a Presidential "nominee", and the Bush strategists behind her. Apparently we like nothing better than to be distracted from the REAL issues, and what better way than to nominate an experienced "hottie" with lipstick and a Down syndrome baby she SHOULD be taking care of, who knows nothing about them. The Republicans have clearly secured their position as the manipulator of the disenfranchised masses.

It saddens and sickens me that you would comment on Senator McCain's quote "oddly lumpy face". How would you look if you were a POW and tortured for 5 1/2 years? Of course, self-sacrifice is probaly unknown to those who are superficial. Air Force Vetersan

I listen to conservative talk radio on a daily basis. Those individuals who listen to this stuff and don't explore other avenues will of course place their vote using misleading info. I consistently hear how biased the liberal media is. Why don't we ever talk about how partisan conservative radio is. I don't think people are stupid, they're just not given the truth. People say Palin scares the Democrats, well she doesn't scare us, it's the false picture that's been painted around her that scares us. For a educated vote we must have the truth, and many of those on the right seem intent on obscuring that truth.

People hopping on here saying there is no separation of church and state are deluded. Read a history book!

Maybe a number of women will turn out now, to vote for Palin. They won't be Hillary supporters. The Hillary supporters I know, not only don't like Palin, but they are insulted by McCain's pick. Are they staying home out of anger with Obama? Nope; as a matter of fact, Palin has energized them to cast ballots in November.
