Andropov has not be emphasized enough-- the KGB and it's successors always felt that he died before the USSR could fully implement the KGB's vision of reform. Little surprise then that Putin has essentially steered Russia back toward that concept of state control and organization.

Hon you so don't get the Russians.

Mr. Moynihan wrote: "... that hideous Sting song about Russians "loving their children too." Why "hideous"? The very idea Russians are people makes Mr. Moynihan feel insulted? You told us about yourself so much with just one word, sir!

... No, you should not fear Putin just yet. You should deal with him and if you still do nothing to stop him now... after 15 years it will be even too late to fear.

Understanding Russia is not for the average mind.

If we told you no more NATO moving closer to Russia that means NO MORE. I bet 1 billion of US cash you will drop your ideas to see Ukraine and Georgia in NATO. You just have no guts to challenge Russians. Any way we will teach you a hard lesson with great pleasure.

I lived in Russian and Americans should fear Putin and his agenda. Russia together with China are going to attack America and according to these comments it should make people happy. You spoiled Americans have no idea how good you have it. Keep looking down on your country and you will be looking up to a Dictator!!

These two little screeds tell us nothing about either Russia or Putin. They are just personality puffs for journalists who are paid to pose as 'pundits'.

The U.S economy is 14 times the size of Russia. I think a new cold war is not in th works, Putin wants to build Russia into the world power that is respected around the world. One cannot fault him for being a patriot. Putin is a man whose heart and soul belongs to the old Soviet system but he is young enough and intelligent enough to know Russia cannot go back. We should wish he can create a stable and prosperous Russia. I am worried that the oil boom may be coming to an end. Hopefully the next U,S. President will build a better relationship.

You Americans are all fools, Putin has a long range plan to finally bring us the dominate position in the world. We are a producer of oil. We have no interest in peace in the middle east, on the contrary we want more turmoil. Then the price of oil will contine to rise, helping fund our military and operative campaigns. We will continue to supply Iran(our proxy) with nuclear and military weapons. They will supply your enemies, osama and such. When the islamafacists have brought you to your knees, we will offer our support, on OUR TERMS and CONDITIONS! and you will accept them, like a poor lost boy hopeless and sad.
