  • Your paper's editors are idiots. The proper term for this decade is not the "oughts," but the "aughts." "Oughts" is not a word except as an imagine plural for the verb "ought" (as in, "I ought to check with someone smarter than me before I'm stupid enough to use 'oughts' instead of 'aughts.'"

  • The decade is not lacking in character, only the writer. Goldberg only graduated from goucher College in 1991 ( and was granted a seat on the Board of Trustees upon graduation, how does that work? )whereas I would wager a majority of the readership of this paper were productively employed adults when the good Mr. Goldberg was in diapers. The character of this decade has been defined by the abandonment by America of every single value that made us a worthy society. Of course being a neo-con lacky Mr. Goldberg will never admit that. He should go back to counting his toes and staring at the fuzz in his navel.

  • How bout, "Dos Equis" ha ha P.S., I really like your columns Josh, but I bet it must be kind of lonely being a conservative, working for the Times. Keep up the good work, and try to get your column moved closer to the front.

  • The '00s, not the '70s, are the true "me" decade. It will likely become a "lost" decade however as the mainstream culture is the poorest definition that defines a decade since the '40s. I recommend the site www.inthe00s.com for MUCH more information about the character of this decade.
