  • ahh... killing is a art and Israelis are good at this. It wont look good if they kill all the in Gaza and take the land. The current approach is the best ... play cat and mouse ... and kill slowly... quick option is to nuke the area and but that may damage the (e.g. radiaiton) for new jews settler. Arabs are weak now, with no tech and edu.. this is the best time ;-)

  • I picked up the LA Times today, to see a group of men carrying a wounded victim. Front page, top and center. IT HAD to say YET AGAIN a school was hit... this is EXACTLY why Hamas hides out in schools, homes, hospitals, etc. They know when they get hit, journalists all over the US will post photos of it front and center, raising resentment and fear. Want all this to stop??? then SEIZE PLAYING INTO THEIR HANDS and stop publishing these types of photos!!!!

  • I used to sympathize with the Zionist cause. Until I seen video of Israeli soldiers firing on unarmed palestenian men and children pleading for their lives. Until I seen pictures of Israeli girls writing notes on Israeli missiles headed for Lebanon. Until I learned that they give Israeli's and Arab's two separate history books in Israeli schools. Until I found out Israel was created the same way the US was created. By forcing people out of their lands and building walls to keep them out forever.

  • How funny. If you look at this Op-Ed, and you replace Israeli's with Liberals, replace Haters with Jonah Goldberg, Replace Nazi's with....oh dont replace Nazi's, then you see the truth. Jonah Goldberg is a hypocrite. Liberal Fascism Jonah? "The need to see their own hatreds and ambitions mirrored in their enemy's actions."

  • So now we're back to linking criticism of Israel's policies to antisemitism? How last century.

  • Regarding comment #103 You're right Julie, where is the balance indeed, how about pointing out the FACT that Hamas has used this UN school to fire mortars at innocent Israeli people despite unanswered complaints to the UN! Hamas chooses as a tactic to launch military attacks from within civilian populations yet has the gall to complain when innocent civilians are killed?!?! It is Hamas that has the blood on their hands, not Israel!! Read the article I provided a link to below then perhaps YOU will have a more "balanced" perspective on the FACTS! http://israelisoldiersmother.blogspot.com/2009/01/images-they-show.html

  • There is a tremendous difference between criticizing Israel and saying "go back to the oven" or denying the holocaust. Israel deserves plenty of criticism. But don't try to use the idea that it's the criticism that caused this op ed Mr. Abbas of Manchester. This is about differentiating, something groups like Hamas have a hard time doing.

  • Right on, 'California' - look, the fact is, this isn't an issue to get angry about; it's one to get sad about. The real issue is that both sides have rightful disputes with the way things stand. People who color either side as right or wrong are usually biased and base their opinions on anger rather than reason. We can't continue to make these emotional decisions of right and wrong BEFORE we actually consider all the evidence. In this conflict, I have yet to meet someone with a definitive stance who judged each side fairly.

  • Israeli historians believe that the Zionists intended to dispossess Palestinians from their homeland. This was wrong, just as the Holocaust was a huge wrong. Two wrongs don't make a right. From the Israeli point of view, an historical wrong cannot be corrected by allowing attacks on what is now Israeli soil. The Mideast is stuck in cycles of oppression, leading to violent resistance and more oppression. Hopeful solutions that have lead nowhere. Nevertheless, compared to truly benighted parts of the world with wholesale slaughter and genocide, the numbers of deaths are tiny compared to the millions of dead in the Congo and Sudan.

  • The suggestion of vile anti semitism every time anyone has the nerve to question Israel is a cheap, easy shot, used to distract from the atrocities committed in the name of this state. The reality is that the people of Israel, once oppressed and mistreated in Germany in large numbers, are using their past mistreatment as a form of moral blackmail with which to extort billions of dollars of American tax payers money and political goodwill from the US, and using this to oppress, humiliate and consistently mistreat an entire group of people.
