Anyone who knows anything about Black people would know that they voted against Proposition 8 because of fundamental religous/cultural beliefs.
"beyond race" doesn't mean utopia it mean change. Cheer up! it's all good.
Gays will get same sex marriage, it only makes sense.

To AG: Openly gay people aren't allowed to serve in the military. In most states, it's legal for a company to have a policy against hiring gays. In some parts of the country, gay people are frequently targets of violence. Does any of this sound familiar?
It's true that there are forms of oppression that black people faced that white gay people haven't had to face. Nobody has tried to take away our right to vote, for instance. It's also true that we have the option of hiding our sexuality, and most blacks can't hide their race. But why should gay people have to hide their sexuality in order to be treated as equal citizens?

Control is oppression. When any majority proclaims it has control because it has the most members, minorities protest. When a minority claims to control all other minorities because that coalition forms a majority, that too is oppression. Using a single characteristic of a person to determine how they must vote is degrading. If the LGBT faction continues to bark at minority groups, form a majority coalition, and dictate oppressive policies, they are no different than Fascists.

Its simple. Blacks (some, not all) do not equate the struggle of equality based on sexuality to that based on race. In our nation, race has caused more pain than sexual discrimination (i.e., no gay slavery). I am not saying that voting for or against Prop8 is right or wrong, but the notion that 'giving' blacks a President in Obama means that they in turn should support gay rights is illogical.

I truly wish our new president well. After all, the mainstream media convinced us that he was the ONE. Only now are members of the MSM asking themselves: who is President Elect Obama?
This was the ultimate affirmative action hire & we had better hope that his secretive past doesn't hide an empty suit.

Eric, this is not a civil rights issue. You speak of the atrocities directed against gays and they are dispicable indeed, but nothing compared to the struggle my ancestors endured in this country. When gays are not seen as humans but simply "cattle", when gays are bought and sold like watches or glasses, burned, castrated, lynched, denied the right to VOTE...among a long list of other atrocites commited against blacks....then you can call this a civil rights issue comparable to my ancestors struggle.

You ignorant anit Prop 8 people really make me sick. This wasn't about religion or race as a whole. It was about morality. I am not religious, but I do believe in God. I am not a blind follower of the church. However, my morality prohibits me from believing that homosexuality is normal or natural. I'm not telling you you can't "love" who you "love". Simply stating that I refuse to let you use marriage to validate homosexuality. Simple as that.

One of the main problems is that the vanguards of the Left is that they cannot tolerate when members of minority have different views. When people are given the unobstructed, legal right to vote, you can't tell them what to do. That is true racial equality. The same applies to women's rights as well. Just because someone is female does not necessarily mean she is in favor of abortion.

i don't believe it is right or fair for Gays to think just because black people have not always been treated equally and can relate on that factor with the homosexuals community they can now go and expect for them to compromise their values' they have been taught. Blacks aren't "stepping on the little guy" If Gays payed attention Homosexuality is not something excepted in the Black community by fellow blacks.
