1. I have recently returned from a trip to Philadelphia( currently the true mural capitol of the US) and deliberately spent about 4 hours touring the 'rough " parts of the city, which now has a "minority" population as the the majority. I must have seen 150-200 murals without any one of them having graffiti on it or otherwise vandalized. This is due to Philadelphia, unlike Los Angeles, putting its money and muscle where it heart is . Shame on you Los Angeles. Murals can have protective coating inexpensively put on them which make defacement easy to remove. Our City Council and a small budget could turn things around. Les Weinstein

2. Sorry, but I don't see this junk as "art". Ed Ruscha Monument is a pretty stupid looking thing to put on a building. I'm sure the architects who designed the building think it is art, and putting some mural on it is defacing it. But what the heck, it's your city. I've been there once, and it was enough to last me a lifetime, although I would think you should be more concerned about crime and bankrupt governments.
