The Ans. is NO!
We were dropped from our BS65 Plus after 10, plus years. We were told we were to "Grandfatherd" in. Of course that never happen, just wasted my time (two weeks).
I have one question (now). What part of the monies collected by BS65 Plus toward our cancelled Dental Plan can now be returned so that we may buy Dental else where. BS65 Plus is collecting $200.00 per month or $2400.00 per year. We like our present Dr. To change now only complicates things again.
Anything Schwarzenegger does worries me. He's not the person I thought we needed.
2. I view AB 11 to benefit the insurance companies the same way Medicare part D benefits the pharmaceutical industry. Both groups will realize substantial increases in profits at the expense of taxpayers and the middle class. Their lobbyists designed it this way. Fortunately, several polls have been conducted indicating less than 20% support among California voters for AB 11. Single payer is the way to go since it eliminates the 20 to 25% overhead charged by insurance companies.
3. The government caused the entire problem with health care in America by over socializing (with mandates) medicine to the extent it is not completive. The government allows a monopolistic pharmaceutical environment, and the FDA a federal agency failing American citizens and needs be eliminated or completely re-organized; it’s corrupt, and is causing a major impact on the cost of healthcare in America, and we want to exacerbate the problem? http://www.InteliOrg.com/
4. The Governors plan basically gives total control to the insurance companies. Insurance companies will continue to profit from healtcare. Healthcare for profit means your health is less important to insurance companies who value continued growth, i.e., more profit. We need to take control of our healtcare away from profit hungry insurance companies. Ask the Governor how much he receives in special interest money from these insurance companies. And I bet he will just say how important this is for California. But, in reality, it's important to his special interest groups.
5. What annoys me is that while people here complain about single payer coverage being so evil, their parents can't wait to get on medicare, a single payer system. And we all support our troops. Right? Then we have then covered by the VA, which is socialized medicine. Wake up people and realize the current system is a failed market. OK for some, very bad for some, tolerable for the rest while being the most expensive in the world.
6. England, France, Canada, Germany etc. all pay for their health care with national sales taxes from 17 to 25%. They also do not allow patients to sue their doctors and hospitals so they do not have expensive doctors insurance. California is currently $14 billion in the red. You need to change the laws abd taxes if you want "free" health care. How can we afford a single-payer system with current tax policies?
7. I can't believe that we don't have a single payer system. I lived for two years under the system in Britain and it was wonderful. I always got to the doctor the same day, never waited for more than 15 minutes in the waiting room and never worried that my insurance would cover my treatment. Here I have had to pay a fortune in insurance. I would often have to wait days to see a doctor and was often treated very rudely. I even had one doctor spend the entire visit I was paying for proselytizing to me. Join me in the revolution at www..thebloodyflag.com
8. As a single parent, health services consumer and as a small businessman I support Senator Kuehl's vision and practical plan for a single payer health care system. The Nunez- Perata bill does not go far enough during this time where bold change is the best prescription. Clearly it is the health insurance industry that is the weak link in our massively failing heath care system and the Nuez-Perata bill fails to recognize that fundamental problem. Affordable and universal health care is the cure for California's economic malaise.
9. Schwarzenegger's health care reform package is essentially identical to the medical insurance plans currently in use in the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, and a score of other countries. Contrary to what Ms. Kuehl says, it works in these countries and it's popular. Furthermore, it's feasible politically in the US because it doesn't affect the many people who already have adequate insurance through their employers. People like Kuehl are a Godsend to the Republicans. They insist on perfection, and as a result they achieve nothing. With friends like her, we don't need enemies.
10. Quoting from the above discussion: '...every Californian would be required to buy health insurance.' Comment: No thank you, Big Brother. "...an initiative providing funding for the new system will be put on an upcoming ballot for voter approval.' Comment: Oh, by the way, that funding, once again, will be coming out of the pockets of smokers. Heaven forbid that anyone would dare propose an increase in alcohol taxes.
