  • She said it again w/ Hannity yesterday, calling friendly states for their ticket the "true America."

  • That's the real America: a land of change and perpetual renewal. yes , we do want change . We don't want war. Let's live together peacefully on this earth . Let's go back and cultivate our land, this rich land of the free and the brave , blessed with victory and peace .

  • Are we really "richer and stronger"? Or have we evolved into a nation where everybody has a different agenda, instead of all pulling together for the common good. Sometimes, it is necessary to assimilate and identify the core values on which our great nation was founded. If we all insist on our own selfish agendas we end up a nation of discontents fighting each other instead of working for the common good and making our nation stronger and richer.

  • I agree. The GOP's comments are very divisive and not supportive of a "united" states at all. We're suppose to be the leading nation in terms of diversity and acceptance, but we're hearing that anyone that do not vote for them are not "real" Americans, and that they are not patriotic enough, etc. Its offensive, and I don't want a president who's going to have that mentality about their country.

  • Good article. The irony is that Palin's own husband and her kids have Native Alaskan blood in them, something she talks about, but apparently forgets when she talks about parts fo the U.S. that are "Pro-America"I wish the media would be tougher on her, I don't think they are tough enough. She apologizes for this statement, and that's it, she's off the hook? That statement is the center of the whole Republican campaign. And the whole comments about "elites". I wonder what McCain called those folks that treated his 4-time skin cancer?

  • Were all Americans here. I appreciate the work of farmers and factory workers. But their jobs wouldnt mater if the commodities brokers and designers didnt do thier jobs too. Joe the Plumber is nothing without Mitch the Architect. Im sick and many of us in the "bible belt" are sick of the elitist attitude of those in the the "working class". Im glad they work hard but so does everyone. While middle America sitting in their bars discussing shooting Arabs, New Yorkers were burying families and friends and losing their jobs. Im just sick of it.

  • I couldnt agree with you more. First of all I want to preface my remarks with the fact that I live and was raised in North Carolina, I am white and I do not live in the Charlotte or Raliegh area and I am from a working class blue collar background. I am what many would consider a text-book right-wing McCain endorser. But I am the reason North Carolina is slipping into the blue state terretory. I am a democrat, I was indepentant until the Bush administration took over and I got sick of the corruption and the elitist attitude of rural america.

  • So now we're being called racist because we disagree with liberal policies?

    Stephen Borchert @ 8:14 AM PDT, Oct 24, 2008

  • Thank you Ms. Brooks for your level-headed analyses in these crazy days! You are right on the money!

    Ms.W @ 8:11 AM PDT, Oct 24, 2008

  • In a historical context, the only 'real' americans were the native americans, otherwise you came from somewhere else within the last 7 or 8 generations.
