Does she honestly think comparing 9/11 and the Oklahoma City Bombing is fair?
Think of them like diseases. One is cancer, one is a cold. You don't treat those diseases the same way, do you?
You attack these problems in different ways, because their causes and manifestations are different.
Get it?

You are right, and did I see you on the RM show?
The mantra that GWB "has kept us safe" is such an inane idea. Safe from what? How many people are killed every yr by guns in the hands of murderers? is it 20 or 30 thousand? Why is this not talked about and fought with the zeal that it deserves?
Yes, 3000 died at the hands of Osama, but it was an isolated incident. The daily terror needs to be adressed too.
And the stupid inneffective wars in Afganistan and Iraq need to end. Its a waste of human and $$ resources

"Say what you will about Bush, but America has been safe since 911."
Why does this idiotic statement keep appearing in these comments? If you guys truly believe this, I'd love to sell you a rock that keeps you safe from tigers. After all, I've never been attacked by tigers since I bought it!

The "war on terror" was created by Republicans who hoped to use 911 to terrorize Americans into voting for them. And it worked -- once.

Rosa-Virginia Tech & the McVeigh bombing pale in comparison to 9-11 & Mumbai. You seem to want to avoid the fact that Islamic Fundamentalism is a big problem with millions of active supporters. McVeigh may have had a motivation ideology but it has few adherents & little outside support (unlike Muslims who seem to look the other way when it comes to their extremists). I guess by identifying the motivating ideology of Islamic Fundamentalism you would have to risk being labeled as xenophobic! Its too bad the 9-11 attackers were not christian fundamentalists because then you liberals would be on board!

Terror creates more terrorist! Fearing westenr hegemony, many young youths decided to take up weapon and die to protest outright injustices and insults by west. You cannot expect a ´kiss´ from someone whom you kill. Remember words of the guy who killed 32 in VT and then you´ll know why people resort to take weapon and stand up,and even sacrifice their lives. By the way, Nelson Mandela is still under US TERRORIST WATCH LIST! So, now you know who really terrorists are!!

You cannot reason with Islamo-fascists who render any non-Muslim only two choices, conversion or death. The method to eradicate this problem is simple. Like rats, you don't kill them one at a time as they emerge from their nest, you find the nest and kill them all. Pacifism was tried in Europe during WWII, and the end result was the Nazi Holocaust and 6 million dead Hebrews.

Oh my! - Disputes such as Kashmir. Sounds like a bad day with the girls. The "war on terror" means killing the bad guys - nothing less. They mean the same for us.

I can't believe that this passes as legitimate commentary in what is supposed to be a respectable newspaper. My first reaction 'she's joking right'? So Hitlers SS would also have fallen under this category?
Yes, terrorism has always been a threat. War has been around fo just as long. Does that mean we shouldn't worry about that either? Islamic terrorism is an identifiable threat and can be targeted specifically. To ignore it for the sake of political correctnes (ie. there was a white supremacist terrorist once too!!!) is immoral and plane stupid.
