Letters: The grim lives of others

Share

Re “Living with threats, reconciling the past,” Nov. 19

The story of Davien Graham, a young man paralyzed in a gang shooting who bravely testified against his attacker, brought tears to my eyes. Many of us know there are poor, violent neighborhoods. Nevertheless, it’s startling to read such a detailed account of what too many of our children have to negotiate to stay alive.

Hopefully, such accounts will galvanize us to do something to eradicate this ugliness. We need to make sure that others who are less well off don’t have to live in the conditions that produced Graham’s injuries.
