Use of cluster bombs draws outrage, empathy
Re “U.S. Investigates Israel’s Use of Cluster Bombs,” Aug. 16
Israeli officials assured the world a few weeks ago that they were going to extraordinary lengths to avoid injuries to noncombatants. Now we find that Israel blanketed southern Lebanon with cluster bombs that could later kill and maim many civilians, particularly children, and take their toll on United Nations peacekeepers.
How long is the world going to allow this deception and depravity from the Israeli military and the country that provided the Israelis with weapons?
