L.A. candidates' misleading campaign fliers
These recent campaign mailers from Los Angeles mayoral and City Council candidates aren't exactly Hall of Shame material -- because there are so many outrageous riches from which to choose. It's more of an off-the-cuff, "They've got to be kidding" kind of thing. -- Robert Greene

Wendy Greuel's tricky mailer
Greuel took the Times endorsement for Eric Garcetti, edited it and made it look like we were backing her instead in this Feb. 21 mailer. Here's what we wrote: "Controller Wendy Greuel is smart and ambitious, and she has enjoyed the built-in advantage of being city government's official critic, making her the chief advocate for voters and taxpayers." Greuel's mailer chops it to this: "Smart...the chief advocate for voters and taxpayers."
