1964 launched the Republican Revolution, although voters didn't join up for another 16 years, until the 1980 election of Ronald Reagan. Arizona Sen. Barry Goldwater in the classic victory lift at the GOP convention with his running mate, New York congressman William E. Miller, whose daughter Stephanie became more famous than her father, as a comedian and radio host. The Goldwater-Miller ticket lost in a landslide to President Lyndon B. Johnson and Hubert Humphrey.
