Is America ready for Obama?

You are thin-skinned. No one would ever do a satire on Nazism because no candidate is going to wear a Swastika or suggest ambivalence over the Holocaust. Barack Obama did wear an outfit like the one in the picture, Michelle Obama did say things that offend people like she's never been proud of America before. If Barack Obama is so great for black people then why are the people in his Senate district so poor? Why is the publicly-subsidized, privately owned, housing managed by his campaign contributors so substandard.

What is even more absurd than the cartoon itself is the fact that these fallacies about Senator Obama exist in the first place. Instead of criticizing the New Yorker for something they didn't intend, and that most people obviously didn't get in the first place, Mr. Taylor, who sounds educated, could have targeted the ignorant Americans who are perpetuating the derailment of Obama's campaign. The cartoon was absolutely blown out of proportion and didn't deserve the thrashing it received. Gale Slemp, you're very gullible. If Obama had said that he would side with Islam in a conflict with America, the mainstream media would have been all over it. That is as idiotic as believing that Obama was a Muslim for 31 years, something else the mainstream media would have been all over if it was true. Obama did say that if there was another terrorist attack in America and innocent Muslims were being persecuted that he would stand with them. This is no different than President Bush's position after 9/11. Get your facts straight.

For all those who watched the debates remember how only Clinton and Obama really got to talk? .The others there Biden, Dodd and most of all Dennis Kucinich were all pretty much shut up by the media. Why? Because the media is run by big business which wants wars! wars are interesting! More people tune in to watch the evening news, buy the papers and magazines and of course buy the products they are advertising. So why Obama and Clinton? Because the republicans and the media thought that they can beat down a black man and a woman better than the standard male wasps.

Satire is supposed to be directed to the person(s) at whom the satirist intends to poke fun at. Here, although (supposedly) intending to poke fun at the “low information voters” still believing that Obama is an unpatriotic, radical, Muslim, the New Yorker has debased innocent third parties, including the Obamas and African American. If they sought to poke fun at those believing that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene by presenting a cartoon of them embracing at the alter wouldn’t the offensive nature of such a satire be appreciated? Yet there remain those who are unwilling to appreciate offensive conduct when the issue is race.

This is the just the beginning! The right wing war machine is no way going to let Obama win! We'll see lot's of hatred in the coming months and finally the media will convince the people that McCain, 72 years old, who can'*t even operate a computer is the best man to get us out of this horrible mess! The machines must keep humming! P.s. yeah I know the New Yorker is "liberal" they should be for Obama but what exactly does that mean? Who owns the media? The main thing business wants is low taxes, no social benefits for the people, "freedom" to hire and fire, and yeah one war after another...

This guy has been a Muslum for 31 years until his wife made hiim change religion so he could get into politics---How in the hell do we know what the long term plan with him is ? How do You trust someone like this in today's world ? He has 50 plus lies against him-where is his integrity ? This all tells me The American's are sleeping and they don't care what goes on or what happens.

Did they ever hear " Stick and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me " ? Oh those poor minorities what a tough life they all have in America. Why do so many move to America and none move out ? People need to appreciate and know how well off we all are here.

According to normal standards, i dont potray Obama as a black person. He is half white and half black. But he was raised the white way. is only that he tends to capitalise on being more black by having married a black woman. Obama should know that both blacks and whites have the right to racially claim his piece, not blacks only. Im a black non-american!

Did Obama's wife not say that she had never been proud to be American, until Obama's Presidential campaign? Did Obama not say that if there is conflict between the U.S. and Islam, Obama would take the side of Islam? The satire in the New Yorker magazine appears to be the truth. Did you not see that Obama doesn't salute the U.S. Flag when the National Anthem is sung (he doesn't sing it, either)?
