Nice piece Arthur, the last thing the wine world needs is an attack by a novice. And you used some great examples in your rebuttal, no hobby needs to be criticized by someone who has no vested interest in it.

Joel stein was apparently having a lot of fun trying to be more clever than wine writers. That's not hard, because as Arthur Przebinda deomonstrates, there are a lot of sound reasons that wine tasting notes sound the way they do. This is a well-balanced response. Credit to the editors for runnning it.

Great response, Arthur.

Arthur, you sum up nearly everything I thought when I first read the Stein article - with less expletives!
As someone who does get some of the flavours and aromas from a glass of wine, and is trying to get more still, I did not appreciate effectively being called a jackass - and it's nice to see the LA Times addressing the balance with your piece.

Well done Arthur!
I get more value from a good glass of wine because I like to take the time to taste the nuances of what I am drinking. It is about pleasure, discovery, recognition and yes grape juice!

Thanks! Steins original piece expressed a naiveté that did not deserve the space allotted. If he enjoys Welchs Grape Juice, drink at it. Ill enjoy dissecting my glass of wine while I try to understand my 401k before he tells me Im and Investment Snob.

hey, Jim, did you read the last paragraph or are you that hard up to get a laugh you class-clown!
