Discuss Britt Allcroft's memories of the late comedian.
From the Los Angeles Times
George Carlin was #1 as a comedian. The only thing I didn't like was the fact he was an atheist. I hope he made it to heaven. I will miss him.

George was the best comedian! He was able to take any subject and turn it upside down and turn it around again. He made alot of people see outside the box, that normally were closed minded. Thanks for all the laughs!!! I'm sure that you'll be up in heaven making the heaven laugh!! love ya George!!

A timely Carlin qoute
"There's an odd feeling you get when someone on the sidewalk moves slightly to avoid walking into you. It proves you exist. Your mere existence caused them to alter their path. It's a nice feeling. After you die, no one has to get out of your way anymore." I'm gonna try to get out of George's way as much as possible. We'll miss ya George

I came to know George Carlin when in 1977 the owner of a record distribution in El Salvador came into my office waving a long play of a guy he had never heard of, I said to him: "I'll take it!!" The guy seemed relieved that someone had taken that record off his hands! I had just discovered the notorious "Seven words you can never say on TV" and it was hilarious! I was the only guy in El Salvador with a Carlin album! He was a master of his domain! I will never forget it!

Oh my goodness. I used to watch that show when i was a kid. My mom used to come in the room because i was laughing hysterically and she couldn't understand why. But i was watching George. I'm seventeen years old now. Still young. But i've stuck with him my whole life. What a funny guy.

I can relate to this article. I've never seen "Shining Time Station," but as a child growing up in the 70's (from ages 8-13), I listened to Take Offs and Put Ons obsessively because it always made me laugh during some pretty tough family times.

What a touching memory. I, like I suspect many other people, did not know this side of George Carlin. It was great to hear it and somehow it really makes sense. George had a kind of child-like persona even when doing his most adult comedy. He was one of the best at cutting through adult hypocrisy, which children, of course, do effortlessly.

George Carlin will be missed. I am a 33 yr old, whom has always been considered "funny", ever since grade school. And George Carlin was one of my top 5 influences on comedy. His passing is very saddening.

In a world where our knowledge of people is determined by sound bites designed to accomodate our short attention spans, it is no suprise to me that there are aspects of Carlin's career that have gone unnoticed. He was a disc jockey at KXOL in Ft Worth when I was growing up. Thank you Britt for reminding us what a special and complete person George was.
