  • It was sad indeed to see how Bush turned Gonzales into his personal toady mouthing the virtues and legality of torture at the behest of his handler in chief and probably others in the top tier of the inner circle of gvt. Who better than to give a phony veneer of legality to an illegal policy than the US Attorney General himself. Who will do it, get Gonzales in there and he will say whatever we want him to. He will bless off on anything we need blessed. And so it was that Gonzales perverted himself and hurt his fellow Hispanics at the same time.

  • Excellent piece, it should serve as a guide to all minority who take up important positions. We, as minorities, so easily forget our roots and the oppourtunity that took us up there when we are successful. Should we not accord the same to others and at least hold up the right of the oppressed?

  • Do people still call themselves "Chicano"? As a typical "Whitey" I don't really need "Pancho" to do anything except take care of himself and his family and leave me alone. He might also try to get his kids to stop spray painting illiterate hieroglyphics all over everything. I really think that racism against whites has become legitimized to the point that you don't even understand it as such anymore, and that the Republican party has become the whipping boy of that anti-white bias.

  • Losers always squeal the loudest, otherwise no one pays any attention to them. Paul R. - get off the government dole and earn a living.

  • How does one say "penis envy" in Spanish?

  • Once again, innuendo and hatred trump the truth.. Alberto Gonzales was a fine AG, he like many before him (democrat and republican) worked for his boss, the president. When the congress demanded a say in the firing of nine us attorneys, something he and the president are by law, allowed to do for any reason. Gonzales did exactly what he had to do, he kept the president's confidence and when the political storm became a distraction, he took the hit. I don't give one whit for his status as a Latino, as far as I'm concerned, he is a fine American and should be treated with respect.

  • Raul Reyes is a moron and Mexican - Americans such as himself will not be happy until his La Raza/ Mecha clan get's their way. Gonzales may not have been the best of attorney general's, but the truth was that he just was not in bed with the tan clan.

  • It was interesting to see the prejudice that exists among the Hispanic community against people like Gonzalez. Blacks have their "Oreo", Asians have their "Twinkie" or "Banana", and Hispanics have their "Pancho". Interesting. Wonder what a linguistics expert like Noam Chomsky might get out of this similarity of derogatory terms across different ethnicities. Or is this just a form of plagiarism? What about the author's admission of racism?
