Christmas sneer

Don't think cartoonists play nice just because of the holidays.
December 16, 2007

'Tis a time for giving. So cartoonists give 'em hell! The seasonal call to generosity of spirit is gift-wrapped for our gift-warped sensibilities. So let the religiously righteous trumpet their disdain for undocumented elves. Let the gun lobby tout the gifts that keep on giving: assault rifles. Let the left-winged angels angle to take "holy" out of the holidays and the guilt-ridden consume themselves with overconsumption. Let Santa baby hurry down the chimney -- unless the house has been foreclosed on. And humbug to the Grinchonomic naysayers, obsessed with the specter of recession. For us, the pretty paper is plain white, as we await a chain-yanking visit from the Ghost of Cynicism Present. Truly a most wonderful time for a sneer! Fa-la-la-ha-ha.
