  • If millions of PPP lovers are very happy with Bilawal and Zaradari, what is the problem for others. If Bhuttos are born for sacrifices they definately deserve the leadership as well. we have full confidence on Zardari. They was blamed of being mr. ten percent but non of such blame was proved in the court of law. The actual looters of the country are army generals of Pakistan.

  • The poverty ridden people of Pakistan have a great choice to make....between military boots, swindlers & plunderers. However, on the opposite side are the violent Wahabi power brokers.............what a choice. Are Zardaris good for Pakistan?...........answer would be ...anyone who could maintain the status quo and relative stability for some time maybe acceptable...but at what cost?

  • Benazir Bhutto father Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto gave Pakistan Islamic socialism. He nationalized even local flour mills, rice mills and brought Pakistan to economic ruins. Her daughter Benazir gave Pakistan Mr. Ten percent, her husband. And, now he is heading a party to bring democracy to Pakistan. What a joke, is people party family property? All this privileged class is gathering around one way or the other to grab power. Ahmed

  • So democracy and democratic instituitions are good for a country but not for a political party?

  • PPP Chairman for Life - Benazir Bhutto is gone but the sycophantic syndrome that permeates all Bhutto related writing survives. Mr. Haqqani tries to guise a dynastic anti-democratic succession plan as a mechanism to save the PPP from the intrigues of the military-intelligence oligarchy. Democracy must apply to all of Pakistan's institutions to be meaningful.

  • This is a big joke with Democracy,Democratic Party is ruled by dictators, What is the difference between Army General and family dictator ship? Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was the son of big land lord; his grand father was awarded title of Sir by British government. He became Prime Minister, after his death his daughter led his party and became Prime Minister. Now after her assassination her son becomes Party chairman and husband is running the show.Is it the kingdom? Zaradari and Nawaz Sharif are famous for corruption. Please do not support them on the name of democracy.

  • This is most disappointing. Mr. Haqqani (a professor ar Boston University!) has painted an undemocratic event as a rosy one. Come on Mr. Haqqani, state the truth even though you belong to the same political party. What do you have to fear now? Mr. Zardari is famous for his corruption. How can he be good for Pakistan. Civilian rule - yes. But no looters please.

    Hamid Khawaja @ 8:46 AM PST, Jan 16, 2008

  • Please add a big disclaimer that Mr Haqqani's wife is a candidate for Bhutto's party. Not doing will be a unethical.
