Waxman's diatribe (not the first anti-HFPA piece The Times has run) didn't discourage the paper, which covered the non-event with great vigor, as usual.. Significantly, Goodridge doesn't address Waxman's contention that the HFPA has something like 80 voting members.

I went through the membership list. I've never heard of one of them, never! Most articles about the HFPA state that most of them are waiters, small time flacks & worst of all, some generally disreputable characters that show up mooching at gifting suites! [Although that does describe 99% of Hollywood]. Most get one absurdly idiotic article printed by some obscure paper in Europe that does so because they get it free.

If Waxman thinks the Association is so bad, why would she want domestic media to join it? Isn't this all about food envy?

as they say in politics, waxman is leaving journalism to 'spend more time with her family'. bye.
