Herman Cain now raising money like a frontrunner [Video]

Apparently “9-9-9” is good for about $3 million. That’s how much money Herman Cain says he’s raised in the month of October alone as financial support begins to match a spike in the polls that is defying political gravity.

The former pizza chain executive told Fox Business Network (see video below) that his organization “is expanding dramatically” as well, while disputing a recent New York Times report that his campaign is in disarray.

“They don’t know what they are talking about,” he said. “They are trying to draw a conclusion based on anecdotal information from disgruntled employees. We have a very solid organization, the fundraising is coming in, and you are always going to have turnover when you are building a new organization.”

Cain raised $2.8 million in the third quarter fundraising period, among the lower totals for Republican hopefuls in the summer months. But as his “9-9-9” plan gained traction and media attention followed, he’s become the lead challenger to putative frontrunner Mitt Romney.

Two polls this week -- from Fox News and CBS News and the New York Times -- showed him with four-point leads over Romney nationally, though CNN polls in key early-voting states showed Romney ahead.

“I don’t see myself as a clear frontrunner, because I don’t have a double-digit lead, but I would say I am right up there,” Cain told the network.
