Gun control legislation proposals( Alex Wong / Getty Images / January 11, 2013 )
In the wake of a series of shooting sprees in 2012, including the tragedy in Newtown, Conn., President Obama has promised that gun control will "not be something I will be putting off," and has said that his administration will construct a series of proposals based on the findings of a task force headed by Vice President Joe Biden. Obama is joined by a number of Democrats, including California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, who is seeking the return of the 1994 assault weapons ban she helped create.
But, as indicated by the NRA's post-Newtown press conference and continued Republican support of gun rights, Democrats won't move forward unopposed.
