The Screen Actors Guild should have come up with a special SAG Award for the best reality TV series of the year: the Republican presidential debates.

Even the colorful, quirky characters on "Boardwalk Empire" weren't as entertaining as the cast of the GOP's show. No actors in Hollywood were more adept at revising their lines and evolving their personas than Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney. No screenwriter created characters more wonderfully preposterous than Michele Bachmann, Herman Cain and Rick Perry. No series had more unlikely plot twists.

And the budget for this show? Limitless -- the envy of every cash-strapped producer in show business.

I confess I'll stop by Horsey's column to see what distortians and misleading data is put forth as 'information' by Limbaugh, Fox News and other extreme partisan sources. However, I'm finding Republican posters aren't even bothering with facts, they've deteriorated into pure name-calling and na-na-na-na-na discourse.

Could never be considered reality when the questions are "How important is religion in your life" rather than "what are you going to do about the radically rising disparity in economic equality and the dimishing middle class." I"ve yet to hear a discussion in these debates that didn't sound like a Republican marketing statement rather than a serious discussion about the problems in the country. I realize they wrap it up in language that sounds like real topics but when you pull the string, it all becomes public relations propaganda. The only entertaining part is that Gingrich isn't following the pre-designed script but that will soon evaporate when the primaries reach a greater density and his lack of national organization pokes through. After all, he's not even registered in the primaries of his own home state and it's too late to file.
