A man wearing an explosives-laden jacket attacked an Islamabad police compound, but was shot before he could enter the main building. Two officers died and six were wounded, police said.
Waquar Shah, an officer on duty at the police emergency response center when it was attacked, said a man wearing a heavy jacket was spotted as he jumped over a wall into a courtyard.
A policeman shot him, and the man’s explosives detonated when he fell, Shah said.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, which took place in a residential neighborhood of the capital.
