A lawyer for a Long Island man accused of stealing nearly a quarter-million dollars from a medical research foundation to help pay for sessions with an Ohio dominatrix says his client is innocent and shocked to be in jail.

“He denies all the charges,” H. Herschel Katz said of his client, Abraham Alexander, 45, a former clerk in the accounts payable department at the Cardiovascular Research Foundation in Manhattan.

Alexander allegedly used at least $11,000 of the money to pay for $250-per-hour sadomasochism sessions with Lady Sage, whose website describes her as a professional dominator, and whom prosecutors said Alexander repeatedly flew in from her home in Columbus, Ohio.

“He had a lot of money that went to American Airlines,” said Sherry Hunter, a spokeswoman for the Manhattan district attorney’s office.

Alexander also used the money to buy goods from places like Best Buy, the Gap and bookstores, Hunter said.

Alexander was arraigned in state Supreme Court in Manhattan on Tuesday on charges of grand larceny, forgery and criminal possession of a forged instrument.

According to the indictment, he stole $237,162 between Nov. 2, 2003, and April 20.

Katz declined to answer specific questions about the allegations.
