Allan Grant | 1919-2008
Life magazine photographer Allan Grant covered news and personalities from the 1940s to the '60s. An example of his talent for spot news photography is this shot of former Vice President Richard Nixon, in slacks and tie, using a garden hose to water down the roof of his rented home in Brentwood during the Bel-Air fire in November 1961. Nearly 500 homes were destroyed in the blaze.
