Domestic triangle suspected in Koreatown killings

A murder-suicide at a Koreatown restaurant that left two men dead was the result of a “domestic triangle” involving the gunman, his victim and the gunman’s wife, police said Wednesday.

Hyo Jin Lim, owner of the popular Suhrabal restaurant, was shot and killed late Tuesday afternoon by a man who walked into the establishment in the 100 block of South Western Avenue and began arguing with him, police said.

Sae-Kyoon Na, 47, fired several shots at Lim before turning the gun on himself and taking his own life, police said.

“Detectives believe the motive behind the murder-suicide was some kind of domestic triangle ... ,” said Lt. Paul Vernon of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The gunman “accused the victim of having an affair with his wife,” Vernon added.

SWAT and patrol officers combed the area for other potential suspects, but investigators concluded that Na was the lone gunman, Vernon said.

When police entered the building shortly after the shooting, they found both men dead from gunshot wounds to the head.

Vernon said detectives found a semiautomatic handgun at the scene. It will be examined to verify its suspected connection to Na.
