I test drove an Audi in 2001 and thought its transmission was crisper than a BMWs -- tho, in all fairness, all I was test driving was used BMWs. When are you going to take a bite out of the 2009 Corvette? I think it's the pretiest one they've produced, tho at $55- to $75-thou pushed by a 600 hoursepower engine, I'd think twice about the A4. What's the gas mileage on that monster? Louisville, KY.

I'll admit two things. Usually I'm not a big Dan Neil fan because his reviews usually seem elitist to me and secondly I really like Audi's. To give credit where credit is due this is an excellent review by Mr. Neil. As for the A4, call me a contrarian but I like the idea of NOT wanting a BMW. They're fine cars ofcourse but everybody and their brother owns one and for $40K you'd be lucky to leave the lot with a 1 Series Beemer. Blah! I prefer something different but it still has to be a nice piece of machinery inside and out. The A4 works for me.

I have leased five audi's......My son one....I taught him how to drive....I can't think of another car to drive...Growing up in LA as a woman? I really know my cars....During the sixties we had open spaces to really drive......People by and large arent great drivers..I love the way it handles and understand the nuances.....Audi should hire me ...I drove five this time before I picked one..................I drive the same A4 every two years.......I know my cars....

Please Audi give us a car that runs on REGULAR unleaded. A4 seems vastly improved for 2009.

I'll with the a third Audi in a row, most likely a A4 again.

I don't get it. My 94 BMW 325i 4dr which also weighs in at 3400 lbs can stop within the same distance. I thought he was going to say 80ft or something stupendous. I like what Audi has to offer, but their profile design looks like the new 3s and the back end of a "C" class merc. I do like the change up in the nose cowl.

I want a Diesel Avant. Audi, are you listening?
William @ 12:24 PM PDT, Jun 18, 2008
...just in time to test drive it before my car lease expiration (October 08)

Why wouldn't you wait!? The new car is bigger, faster, cheaper, loaded-er (not a word, but still true!), and gets better EPA ratings than the old car. The new V6 gets the mileage of the old 2.0T, and the new 2.0 T gets Honda-like fuel economy while still gaining 50 lb/ft of torque. Mind you, the OLD 2.0T won engine of the year for 4 straight years (including this year!)...and this one has 5% more HP, 25% more torque, and 15% better fuel economy than THAT. This will be not only the most significant Audi launch this year, but possibly the most significant luxury brand launch for the remainder of the decade.
