Two dead as car crashes into tree in Carmel Valley area

Two people were killed this morning, Sept. 15, when the vehicle they were in crashed into a tree in the Torrey Highlands area of San Diego.

Officers responded at 1:40 a.m. to the intersection of Carmel Valley Road and Torrey Del Mar Drive and located a crashed Honda Accord and two victims, according to Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene, Heims said. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
