The following are updates on local athletes at the collegiate level.

Ahsha Earwood (Burroughs High, 2013) Pomona-Pitzer water polo junior: Much as her career at Burroughs High was full of big games and big accolades, Earwood’s tenure thus far at Pomona-Pitzer has garnered plenty of highlights and accolades as well.

For the second consecutive season, Earwood hauled in All-American and All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors.

Following a 188-save season, the goaltender was named a first-team Assn. of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches NCAA Division III All-American. As a sophomore, Earwood was a second-team pick.

Earwood’s also earned her second straight first-team All-SCIAC accolade.

The Sagehens concluded their season at 14-16 with a 9-2 mark in SCIAC play.

Garrett Auproux (Burroughs High, 2013) Cal Poly tennis junior: Auproux turned in a successful season that equated to an All-Big West Conference second-team singles honor along with all-conference second-team doubles recognition.

For a Mustangs squad that went 14-10, 4-1 in conference, Auproux went 13-14 with a 12-11 mark in dual-meet competition and a 3-1 record in conference. Playing primarily as his team’s No. 2 player, he put together an 11-9 record from that spot.

It was Auproux’s second straight first-team honor.

In doubles, the former Pacific League champion teamed with fellow junior Tim Tan for second-team recognition. Auproux, who was 14-9 overall in doubles, was 12-7 with Tan with all of their sets as the squad’s No. 2 team. The duo was an unblemished 3-0 in conference.

The Mustangs lost in the conference tournament dual-meet semifinals, 4-1, to UC Santa Barbara on April 30.

Sawyer Patterson (Burroughs High, 2015) Redlands tennis freshman: Following a senior season at Burroughs in which he was the All-Area Boys’ Tennis Singles Player of the Year, Patterson made an impact in doubles play for Redlands.

Patterson teamed up with five partners throughout the course of the campaign, tallying winning records with three.

Overall, Patterson produced a 9-7 record.

Redlands’ dual-meet season concluded on May 8 with a 7-2 win over Whittier in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament to take third place. Redlands finished the season at 18-7, 4-3 in conference.

Michelle Santiago (Burroughs High, 2015) Arizona Western softball freshman: Santiago did not get a great deal of playing time early on for the highly-regarded junior college, but when she got her chance around the midway point of the season, she never looked back.

Playing in 27 of her team’s final 35 games, Santiago racked up excellent numbers her rookie season.

Playing in 29 games total during the Matadors’ 43-17 season, Santiago hit a resounding .473 (35 for 74) with 28 runs batted in, 15 runs and five home runs. Playing catcher and third base, Santiago tallied a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.¿
