Share

Newport Beach City Councilman Keith Curry raised $127,690 last year for his upcoming campaign for the 74th Assembly District seat, according to campaign finance reports.

His total contributions now surpass $160,000, according to a news release.

Allan Mansoor (R-Costa Mesa) currently holds the 74th District seat, but he is running for a place on the Orange County Board of Supervisors.

Curry, who recently served as mayor of Newport Beach, will probably face fellow Republicans Matthew Harper, mayor of Huntington Beach, and Emanual Patrascu, district director for Assemblyman Travis Allen (R-Huntington Beach), in the June 3 primary.

Harper and Patrascu raised $6,100 and $70,045 last year, respectively.

Santa Ana native and community activist Karina Onofre is also expected to run. Her campaign finance report was not immediately available online.

Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens has also endorsed Curry, according to a second release, as have former California Gov. George Deukmejian, the Orange County Business Council and the current mayors of Newport Beach, Irvine and Laguna Beach.
