Crescenta Valley Briefs: Volunteers sought for cleanup; CV Alliance hosts discussion on teen anxiety, depression

The La Crescenta Library will host a “Family Play Date” from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, for children up to 5 years old with an adult caregiver.

The Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual installation luncheon at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, at the La Cañada Flintridge Country Club, 5500 Godbey Drive, La Cañada Flintridge.

At the event, new officers and directors will be installed and outgoing officers and directors will be honored. Also, the Mary Pinola/Crescenta Valley Chamber Educational Endowment funds will be distributed to several local schools and organizations.

The Crescenta Valley Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, in the community room of the La Crescenta Library, 2809 Foothill Blvd., La Crescenta.

At the meeting, the Crescenta Valley High School varsity football team, which recently won the CIF championship, will be honored.

The next cleanup day at Crescenta Commons will be from 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Crescenta Commons is located on the corner of Rosemont and Orange avenues.

Volunteers will pull weeds, pick up trash and work to keep the site clean and beautiful.

The CV Alliance will present “Is Your Home Safe for Teens?” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in the library at Crescenta Valley High School, 2900 Community Ave.

The talk, which is open to adults only, will be held by Annie Ortega, program coordinator for alcohol and other drug prevention services, at Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services.

Next Thursday, the organization will present a talk about “Teen Anxiety and Depression” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the library of Crescenta Valley High.

The program, which is open to adults and children, will be led by Lisa Vartanian, director of addiction studies at East Los Angeles College.
