Crime Blotter - June 1, 2011

AREA 1: 4900 block of Briggs Avenue: Deputies pulled over a vehicle going down Briggs Avenue the morning of May 24 for driving with a broken brake light and cracked windshield. The deputy asked the driver, Arnold Jackson, 59, if he was on parole and he said he was. A deputy conducted a search of the vehicle and found a black plastic bag containing three methamphetamine pipes and a Brillo pad, which is commonly used as a filter. They were booked into evidence and Jackson was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.

AREA 2

2300 block of Foothill Boulevard: Deputies responded to a burglary alarm call at a 76 Gas Station at 2:30 a.m. on May 24 and saw the front glass entrance door smashed when they arrived. No suspects were found. A security bar on the door was bent and the area leading to the cash register was ransacked. None of the seven security cameras on the premises were recording when the incident occurred. A total of $800 in cash was taken from the gas station as well as $100 in cigarettes. Damage to the glass door was estimated at $2,000.

4700 block of Alminar Avenue: A woman woke up the morning of May 24 to find the driver’s side window of her car smashed and her Garmin GPS, which had been left on the vehicle’s dashboard, missing. The doors were still locked and nothing else had been taken or disturbed. The damage was estimated at $700.

AREA 3

4400 block of Cornishon Avenue: A woman returned to her car the morning of May 24 to find someone had cut the soft top of her vehicle and removed her eyeglass case and leather belt from the car without triggering the alarm. Losses were valued at $60. Damage to the car was estimated at $800.

Foothill Boulevard and Gould Avenue: A deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle the afternoon of May 24 after noticing the driver wasn’t using a seat belt. When asked for his license, the driver said it was suspended. The deputy checked and saw his license had been suspended and there was a misdemeanor warrant out in his name. The deputy placed a 30-day hold on the vehicle and found a plastic bag containing psilocybin (psychadelic mushrooms) during an inventory search of the car. The driver said the backpack belonged to his friend, whose name he couldn’t recall. The driver was arrested and the narcotics were booked into evidence.
