ST. JOE, Mo.—Training Camp for the Kansas City Chiefs is underway in St. Joe. On Saturday, the focus was on the fans as part of Family Fun day. Chiefs players interacted with fans to show the fun of football.
Chiefs fans showed up on Saturday in everything from Chiefs Jerseys to "game faces." KC Wolf donned his full costume giving out noogies to kids. Chiefs cheerleaders also took part in Saturday's fun.
Fans brought anything and everything to sign from jerseys, to footballs, to helmets. The most bizarre item of all might have been a homemade arrowhead logo.
"Oh yeah..made one for me and one for my mom," said Chiefs fan Jody Hughes.
More than 3,000 fans lined the field waiting to get autographs from their favorite players. Players like Jamaal Charles, Tomba Halli, Duane Bowe and Matt Cassel. Chiefs fan Cathay Smith says she knows how she got her Matt Cassell autograph.
"I think right place at the right time, you make your own luck," said fan Cathay Smith.
Long distance Chiefs fan Kenneth Apogaca of Albuquerque made his own luck to be sure. He says his mom allowed him to come to Chiefs camp only because he got his grades up in school.
"My grades went up from F's to C's," said Kenneth Apogaca.
No doubt Chiefs players rated an A plus on this family fun day. Chiefs fans had fun getting close to their favorite player. Players admitted they had fun too.
"Definitely fun!" said wide receiver Duane Bowe. "It gives us the time to be back like a kid. It's all worth it. It's all for the family."
