A local organization is branching out in their quest to protect children who surf the net.
The local foundation known as "Safe Surfin'" announced plans Friday about a new grant that'll provide more money to area police departments, so they can track down internet predators.
On hand for the announcement: the foundation's spokesman, a man known for his time spent as a TV cop, Erik Estrada.
"It's a nasty world and nasty things go on out there. But if you give the necessary psychological tools that he need to protect to himself...give him the tools to be able to keep himself safe when no one's around to help him. He can do it on his own that's worth more than anything else in the world," said Estrada.
The foundation, which is based out of Bedford, hopes to help with funding for at least five new law enforcement agencies by this fall.
