As the drama unfolded this afternoon at Virginia Tech, those interested in the news were kept up-to-date through social media and television.
At Little Chef in Roanoke, patrons were enjoying lunch as the news was breaking.
Speaking with the people there, the reaction was shock and dismay that something like this could happen again at Virginia Tech.
"Flashing back from the last time just wondering how many people are dead now. I was just up there a few weeks ago," said Tim Meadows, who watched the shooting coverage. "It's a lovely place and everybody seems nice. But I guess you have a bad person in every crowd."
