A 23-year-old father will serve 15 years in prison for what the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office originally called the worst case of child abuse they had ever seen.
John Clark was sentenced in Montgomery County court on Tuesday morning. His 2-month-old twins were found badly beaten and malnourished in October.
“It’s sickening to think of what these babies endured. We argued for a sentence of 40 years, one year for every broken bone,” Montgomery County Commonwealth's Attorney Mary Pettitt wrote in a news release.
His 2-month-old son had numerous bone fractures including a skull fracture, 23 rib fractures, a wrist fracture, and two fractures to his right leg. Clark's daughter also had numerous fractures, including a skull fracture, a clavicle fracture, seven rib fractures, and two leg fractures.
Clark was found guilty of all charges in April.
After serving 15 years in prison, Clark will be put on probation with a special condition that he can't have contact with children under the age of 18.
Clark's twins have been adopted into a new home.
