Virginia State Police say seven people have been injured in a collision between a commercial passenger bus and a tractor-trailer on Interstate 81 in Rockingham County.
State police say in a news release that five passengers on the bus and both drivers suffered non-life threatening injuries. They have been taken to a local hospital.
The tractor-trailer and the bus collided in the northbound lanes and went into the median. The tractor-trailer's cab overturned but the bus remained upright.
The accident occurred around 4 a.m. Tuesday and closed the interstate at mile marker 244 for several hours. The bus was carrying 42 passengers.
The Virginia Department of Transportation says the interstate has reopened.
State police say the accident is under investigation.
