You've heard of the NFL but probably not the F-L-L. One group of local middle schoolers has a chance to win the whole thing.
The F-L-L is the First Lego League. Hidden Valley Middle School is sending 8 students to Harrisonburg next week to compete in the State championship against other schools.
"That's the cool thing about it. The kids think it's Lego's and a lot of people think of Lego's as toys but in reality they're learning a huge amount about engineering and the concepts that go behind engineering," said Coach Mark Jones.
The students have to program a robot do several tasks in two and a half minutes without touching the robot. Whichever school gets the robot to do the most tasks wins.
